Stunning looking and great sounding banjo from Geoff Stelling during the heart of his production years. The Stelling Staghorn, from it's first introduction in the 1970s contained some of Stelling's best innovations including the Tony Pass 600TS Old Wood Maple Rim. It's considered one of Stelling's highest models and this one in particular contains additional features such as gold plated hardware with decorative engraving throughout. Other features include dark Ebony fretboard with staghorn MOP inlay and a beautifully figured Walnut resonator with multiple rings of MOP inlay in parallel with the white bindings. The instrument remains in very good playing condition with a straight neck and low comfortable action and it rings out a clear punchy tone for which Stelling is famous. Cosmetically, the instrument remains in excellent shape with only a small amount of gold plating wear at the armrest as would be expected of an instrument that has been played. The frets are in good condition but do show a few spots of wear, but all notes ring true so no work is needed at this time. Added bonus, it comes with a top quality green Calton hard case.
