We offer this venerable banjo from Paramount (William Lange) from 1924. These high quality instruments from back in the heyday of tenor banjo playing are known for a strong punchy toe and ornate decorations. This one doesn't disappoint. Features include Mahogany resonator with circular marquetry inlay as well as a cross diameter inlay and matching inlay on the neck. There is identical wood marquetry on the pot itself. The Ebony fretboard with decorative MOP inlay rises through its 1`9 frets to meet a very ornate headstock with MOP inlay including designations for "Paramount" and "Style C." There is also a lovely carved neck heel and additional wood carving at the rear of the headstock.
The serial number (3703) dates it to 1924. Despite the years, It remains in very good playing condition with new strings, a tight skin head, low comfortable action and a sweet but clear punchy tone. Cosmetically, there is still plenty of shine non the metal parts and on the finish itself however there are the expected small marks and dings from time and use and some significant finish crazing on the back of the neck and elsewhere, but none of this detracts from this great feeling and playing banjo with a top quality vintage vibe.
We do not have its original case but w'll ship this in a modern gig bag or case for protection.
