David Gurian made and supervised the making of high quality guitars in New York and New Hampshire from the 1960s to about 1981.  He is credited as being one of the first boutique guitar makers in the United States and many well-known players such as Paul Simon have played his instruments. Gurian guitars had truly unique design features including a more rounded body shape, a narrow "electric"-style neck and an unusual fan-derived bracing system for the top.  The guitar offered here is Gurian's middle size instrument (Size No. 3) and the serial number C1880 dates it to approximately 1975. It's constructed of solid Spruce and Mahogany with dark wood and herringbone purfling and rosette. The guitar is in very good playing condition with recent fret dressing and setup.  The neck is straight and the action is low and comfortable and it delivers a resonant tone that is both balanced and pleasing. The instrument does have its share of honest wear marks, small dings and significant (but attractive) finish crazing and some finish disturbance at the headstock, but it remains physically attractive.  There are  no cracks or structural issues.  Other than a replaced pick-guard, the guitar appears all-original.  Comes with a black, hard, slightly oversized case.
