Nice venerable banjo from the renowned Bacon Banjo Co. The serial number 3030 dates it to approximately 1910-1911. Nice MOP inlay on the headstock, Maple neck w/Ebony stripes, Ebony fingerboard w/ivory or ivoroid binding, genuine skin head (perhaps the original) 11" Maple pot capped with Bacon's patented hollow internal tone chamber, no-knot tailpiece and original non-geared planetary tuners. The banjo is in very good condition with appropriate action for old style claw-hammer playing. The neck has a very slight back bow but it does not effect the playability. Comes with an old hard shell case, perhaps the original, in fair condition with two of three latches working. A new hard shell can be provided if requested for an additional charge.
