Made by the famous banjo duo of William Rettberg and William Lange, ther Orpheum brand banjos were known for beauty and quality. This lovely mandolin-banjo from 1917 is no exception. From the ornate headstock inlay and fret markers to the burled Maple of the pot and neck, this instrument has a look and feel of solidity and quality. It is in very good playing condition with a comfortable action and clear tone bounding from the original skin head. It appears to be recently restored as the metal parts have good shine and there has been a correcting of the neck angle by way of a hardwood block attached to the original dowel. There is also an extremely well-done neck heel crack repair - done so well that it is difficult to see or feel. Added bonus, comes with what may be its original coffin style case with all latches working.
