We offer this great sounding Mastertone banjo from the 1950s. Gibson had all but stopped making banjos during WWII and did not re-introduce the Mastertone series until 1954 when they started making them with the now famous "bowtie" inlay design and archtop tone rings. This banjo appears all original, and its hard to get a precise build date from the serial number "55383" on the back of the headtsock because Gibson did not always keep great records, but from the appearance and features, we believe this instrument was probably made in the early 1960s. This banjo has been recently set up and has great action, tone and feel, but we are listing its condition as only "good" because there is a repaired headstock crack that is structurally very solid and some significant tarnish on metal parts as well as the usual small marks from time and use as might be expected. But if you're wanting to own a piece of banjo history that still plays and sounds great, you'll find that here. Comes with its original pink-interior case in reasonably good condition with all latches working.
