This is an extremely nice Stelling Staghorn banjo, serial No. 1487 built in 1980 for the well known player John McEuen. It features lovely MOP inlaid borders and aged white binding on the dark stained resonator with the three-dimensional "staghorn" adornment on the back and beautiful MOP inlays on the dark Ebony fingerboard and headstock. This banjo is in very good playing condition with a straight neck, low comfortable action and excellent crisp tone. Other than a few small marks from time and use and a very minor amount of tarnish on metal parts (which still shine) the banjo appears essentially untouched by time. Everything appears all original except there are two "Bill Keith" type tuners at the top of the headstock which are possibly original. Originally constructed for John McEuen of the Nitty gritty Dirt Band (see stellingbanjos.com). Comes with a new Guardian hard case.
