Sigma D-18 10th Anniversary Guitar - 1980
We are now offering this very special 1980 Sigma 10th Anniversary guitar. This is a beautiful, vintage instrument with great aged patina and robust tone. This is an all-solid guitar with a solid Spruce Top and solid Mahogany back and sides. It features enclosed Sigma tuning machines, Ebony bridge with decorative diamond style abalone inlay, a Rosewood fretboard with matching diamond abalone inlay with a special "10th Anniversary" abalone block inlay at the 20th fret. During this time period, Sigmas were C.F. Martin's off-shore brand and many of the parts were made by Martin in the United States. Only 100 of these special Anniversary edition guitars were sold and the magnificent feel, weight, and tone of these instruments is so good that it has been rumored that this special batch of guitars may actually have been made by Martin in the United States right alongside their D-18 counterparts.
This guitar is in very good playing condition with a straight neck and comfortable action. It has some of the smaller marks and dings expected of a 35 year-old instrument but here, that's just part of the charm. The guitar comes with a hard shell case.
