Orpheum Jumbo Guitar (Kay-27 c.1950)
Lots of vintage vibe in this 1950s Orpheum (Kay-27) guitar. Spruce top with modern "X" bracing and Mahogany back and sides, Rosewood Fingerboard with rectangle MOP inlay and great old headstock with black overlay and "ORPHEUM" vertical logo. The Mahogany neck has a thick but comfortable profile, slightly "V" shaped, which was common to some of the older instruments with no truss rod. The instrument probably had a neck reset sometime in its life as evidenced by a small side repair near the heel (see photo). Overall, the instrument is in very good vintage condition with only minimal marks and wear and no cracks. There is still a lovely shine and vintage patina on the instrument all around. The three-screw tortoise pick guard and off-white bindings on the body and fingerboard round out the look. This guitar has a straight neck and comfortable action and the jumbo body gives it a remarkably rich resonance with plenty of bass tones. All around, a great guitar for anyone who appreciates vintage instruments with modern playability.
Comes with black hard case in good condition.
