This Gibson BR-9 plays beautifully and comes with its original brown chipboard case. These were made in the late 1940s and 1950s and were an affordable model at the time. This one appears all-original with the exception of the tuner buttons which were replaced onto the original tuners and the pickup has been replaced with a modern "Golden Age Alnico 5 Single Coil Pickup." The original pickup us in the case (non-working). This guitar plays and sounds great. It does have it's share of small marks and dings and paint peel and finish craze, especially at the Botton edge past the bridge where it must have been standing up with that part against a moist floor at some time in its life, but despite this, the instrument remains very attractive with intact brown fingerboard markings and brown Gibson logo. The original tuning machines, possibly Klusons, were saved by replacing the buttons with vintage style off-white buttons that are period correct. The tuners are a bit stiff but all work well. The original brown chipboard case is in used serviceable condition. Currently string with new GHS "E" tuning strings.
