Unlike Gibson, Martin did not start making carved-top mandolins until 1930, and these lovely 2-15 models, known for their sweet tone, lovely tops and beautifully flamed Maple back and sides were made form 1936 to 1964.

We believe this particular instrument is likely from the 1950s.  It has seen plenty of use and there are many small dings in the top (which are exaggerated in the photos) and a few small dings and scratches elsewhere and some tarnish to the tailpiece but it remains very attractive and is in great playing condition with a straight neck, comfortable action and very little fret wear.  The pick guard was removed at some point, so we had a pick guard custom made for it out of thick vintage style tortoise material, much like the original. Otherwise the instrument appears all-original from stem to stern.  The instrument has no structural issues and no cracks other than one nicely glued top crack that is not visible because it is located beneath the pick guard area. The lovely sunburst finish, original carved bridge, Rosewood headstock overlay with gold "C.F. Martin & Co." logo and stunningly flamed back and sides all give this Mandolin a great vintage feel and vibe, and the sweet resonance competes with the best of them.

Comes with grey (possibly original) chip case in serviceable condition.
