This Vega Vox 1 Tenor banjo dates from 1962 (Serial No. 102418) and is in remarkably good condition with only very minor marks of age and appears to be all-original. The flange is still attractively shining and the Rosewood laminate resonator and its white binding are in very good shape. The banjo features 24 brackets, 19 frets and Vega's patented a tub-a-phone tone ring. The plastic head is clean, and like most of the instrument, shows very little signs of wear. The fingerboard is dark and appears to be Ebony and there is nice pearl block inlay and also MOP "Vega" inlay and star at the headstock. The neck itself is likely Maple and it is straight and the action is low and comfortable. The tone is clear and crisp but without harshness. Overall, this is a very nice stage-ready player that is ready for its next owner. It comes with its original brown hard case, also in very good condition.
