Vance Hand-made 12" pot banjo c. 2014
We offer this beautiful one of a kind hand-made ornate banjo from Colin Vance of Humbolt County, California. Made c. 2014, Serial No. 005513. It features a 12" Maple pot with 18 brackets, unique asymmetrical headstock with decorative spalted wood, with matching wood at the bbackmof the headstock and heel cap and at the edge of the pot, varied sizes MOP star fingerboard inlay, planetary tuners and "renaissance" head.
This instrument is in very good condition with a straight neck and appropriate action and looks almost unplayed. The only reason we do not classify it as near-mint is because there is a small crack on the decorative wood overlay on the back of the headstock and some hairline separations, perhaps in the finish only, between the nut-end of the fingerboard and neck. We believe these minor items may be the result of the instrument being bumped at some point, but we have had them examined by a professional luthier and told they are stable and need no repair at this time. This banjo is a lovely playing instrument made by a well-respected builder and visually it is also is a musical work of art.
Comes with Golden Gate Hard case.
