Martin "Vega" Pete Seeger Longneck banjo 1974
Offered for sale is a lovely Martin/Vega "Pete Seeger" Style 5 string long-neck banjo with original hard case. Many people don't know that Martin made Vega banjos from 1970 to 1979 including a very limited number of long-necks. The 1044 serialnumber puts this one at about 1974 and although made in the Martin factory in Nazareth it appears to be made using many original Vega components such as the allen screw neck tilt adjustments and the tube-style lower dowel rod. This banjo does have Martin's exclusive Tu-Ba-Phone "bar-bel/dog-bone" tone ring design. The original Grover tuners have been replaced with planetary tuners, but the Grovers remain in the case. Features include, Waverly tailpiece, spikes at frets 10 and 12, Mahogany finish, Ebony fretboard, 24 brackets, white neck binding, Rosewood headstockoverlay with decorative pearl logo and pearl star and floret design. The instrument is in very good condition and plays and sounds wonderful. The Hardshell case shows minor signs of age but is still in very good condition as well. Original Martin paperwork and letter acknowledging receipt of Warranty Card included.
