This is a top-of-the line Guild, made with all the best materials and appointments. It features a genuine lacquer finish, solid Spruce top, solid East Indian Rosewood back and sides and scalloped Adirondack bracing. The Ebony fingerboard is decorated with v-block Abalone inlay and an Abalone rosette surrounds the sound hole. The D-55 also showcases Guild’s most recognizable headstock which is fully bound and features the Guild “Peak and Shield” inlay combination over a figured ebony overlay. Famously played by Tommy Smothers in the 1960s, the D-55 has been a staple of the Guild line and sought after by many serious players for decades. This guitar is in excellent, near-mint condition with no significant scratches or dings. The Mahogany neck is straight, the action is comfortable. The tone is resonant, warm and luscious with plenty of clarity but no harshness - just what you'd expect from a great Spruce and Rosewood guitar. Comes with its original case and Guild paperwork all in great condition.
